First Impressions: Gulf Air 787-9 “Falcon Gold” Business

I eventually had the possibility to try Gulf Air on its flagship route and I have to say…I was let down. Even though Gulf Air has terrific prospective and the “Falcon Gold” enterprise course cabin on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is amazing, the assistance was sadly a little bit off.

Gulf Air 787-9 “Falcon Gold” Business enterprise Course – My Initial Impressions

Very first, a term on Bahrain Airport. I are unable to think how the airport has reworked given that my final take a look at.

From 2022:

What a variation! It’s beautiful. I invested the night in this article and made a mistake…more on that in my excursion report.

On boarding my flight to London I was really wowed by how astounding the cabin looked. From the color to the lights to the accents, it was lovely.

Feel it or not, this was very first time traveling on a B/E Apex suite and I imagined the seat was superb, with good privateness and consolation.

But there was a little something off with the soft merchandise, specially the services.

The purser onboard was pleasant enough–I don’t imagine he intended any harm–but to start with he was curious why I was using photographs, scolding me not to get any. I defined the it was my initially time on the Gulf Dreamliner and he then encouraged me to acquire more…

Lunch was served after takeoff and alternatively of politely addressing every passenger by name or accomplishing it himself, he marched as a result of the cabin yelling at men and women to pull their tray tables up…it felt like I was dealing with a surly flight attendant on American or United.

The cabin was right away darkened after takeoff even while it was early morning. I opened my window through the meal service and he arrived in excess of and said, “This is heading to be a dilemma.” I spelled out that I like purely natural light-weight but he admonished me (yet again, not so considerably in a cruel way but he was critical) for disturbing others.

Lunch was quite good…soup, salad, chicken, and dessert..but tiny touches have been lacking. Like the casserole dish wasn’t wiped. And I was not requested if I wished everything else to consume apart from water.

I ordered cappuccino after lunch and the flight attendant forgot it (a different one particular). 40 minutes later on I flagged her down and she was great, but did not apologize for forgetting. The espresso did at some point display up and it was wonderful.

Right before landing there was afternoon tea company with sandwiches, cakes, and scones. The sandwiches ended up awful – stale and tasteless. A big disappointment for a provider from a country with a attractive delicacies.

It was also served two hrs before landing…far way too early, thinking about how quickly the provider went.

The headphones ended up also broken.

It was not all lousy, though. I appreciated the pajamas:

And as odd as it seems, the service was very well-intentioned, just not really nicely executed. It was significantly much more casual than I would at any time have envisioned on a Gulf provider.

Summary

I’ll have a great deal far more to say about this flight, such as the seat, IFE, amenity package, bathrooms, and foodstuff and beverages onboard in my whole trip report. Curiously, this flight will make me want to fly Gulf Air all over again, for the reason that I really feel like I flew them on an off-day.
